Carnival Splendor, soon to be the newest and largest ship homeported year-round in Australia, will bring the ultimate in relaxation, with the introduction of the Cloud 9 Spa and accommodation.

Australians after some R&R will be spoilt for choice onboard Carnival Splendor, with the opportunity to indulge in a skin-refining facial, soak in the heated Thalassotherapy Pool or rest on one of the ergonomically-shaped heated loungers, just to name a few.

Spanning two decks, Cloud 9 Spa features more than a dozen treatment rooms, exclusive spa staterooms, a thermal suite and thalassotherapy pool as well as an expansive gym and fitness centre.

Cloud 9 Spa and Accommodation
The Cloud 9 Spa offers unique spa treatments including hot stone massages, full-body wraps, anti-ageing facials and acupuncture to help guests restore, invigorate and rejuvenate.

Unique to the Australian market, Carnival Splendor features over 60 exclusive spa staterooms and suites that offer guests private access to the spa, complimentary access to the Thermal Suite and Thalassotherapy Pool, two yoga or Pilates classes and special spa packages and discounts. These staterooms and suites also offer additional in-room, spa-related amenities and décor in harmony with the relaxing theme of Cloud 9 Spa.

Thermal Suite and Thalassotherapy Pool
At the Thermal Suite on Carnival Splendor, guests can experience an inviting mixture of dry heat and high-humidity areas including a Laconium, Tepidarium, Caldarium (Oriental Steam Bath) and Aroma Steam/Aromatic Grotto.

Enclosed by a glass dome, the Thalassotherapy Pool is a salt water oasis with water-jets that massage the body and help to alleviate arthritic pain and soothe sore muscles.

For guests not staying in a one of the spa staterooms, these relaxing and rejuvenating experiences are available by purchasing either a day pass or access-pass for the entire length of the cruise.

Gym and Fitness Centre
Carnival Splendor offers a fully equipped gym and fitness centre complete with Pilates, yoga and spin classes as well as complimentary stretch classes morning, noon and evening, available for all guests.

“Holidays are the perfect time to sit back, relax and pamper yourself, so we’re very happy to be offering a broad range of wellbeing options for Aussie cruisers,” said Jennifer Vandekreeke, Vice President Carnival Cruise Line Australia.

“If you’re after a rejuvenating holiday you can stay in our Cloud 9 Accommodation. And for those who just need some ‘me time’ after playing with the kids all day onboard (and who doesn’t?), treat yourself to an indulgent massage or facial, a relaxing hour in the thermal suite or an invigorating fitness class.”

Cruise Ships – Thrills at Sea with P&O

Cruise lines that cater for family holidays are busy amping up the adrenaline and offering a variety of heart-thumping activities  on board.

This post will look at what P&O has on offer with further posts over the next few days looking at Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean International and Norwegian Cruise Line.

Cruise Ships – Thrills at Sea with P&O Waterslides on Pacific Explorer

P&O CRUISES

Waterslides & waterpark – included in fare
P&O Edge Adventure Park – additional cost, varies depending on activity

Pacific Dawn was the first P&O ship to get the waterslide treatment.  Disco Diver & Super Slider claim to being the longest slides on an Australian ship.  Both are around 80m.  One is transparent and the other is multi-coloured with music pumping through it.  Pacific Explorer also has two waterslides, one with the lights & sounds and the other with more twists & turns.

All of the P&O Ships that cruise out of Australia & New Zealand (Dawn, Explorer, Jewel, Eden & Aria) have the P&O Edge Adventure Park with up to 19 different activities.  You can zoom down a zip line, race to the top of the ship in a cargo net race and abseil down the 10m aft funnel.

If that isn’t enough, there are also Bungee Tramps, tight rope walking without the heights on Slackline Surfing OR you can battle it out in a game of Laser Tag.

If heights are your thing, you can walk the plank, scale to the top of the outdoor movie screen, clime the ships bow, ascend to the crow’s nest and complete a 3 meter high obstacle course.
